Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine's December 2002 issue of "Catwatch" magazine reports in case of accidental poisoning, i.e. your cat ingests antifreeze, certain houseplants, cleaning agents, Tylenol, aspirin, etc. --

"if hemodialysis is given within SIX HOURS of poisoning, ALL TOXINS CAN BE REMOVED IN ONE TREATMENT. But if hemodialysis is delayed (beyond six hours) the cat can suffer severe renal damage (or death) and dialysis may be needed for many months -- with variable success."
